Alleged architect in murder of Rebels bikie Nick Martin faces court

A bikie accused of orchestrating the fatal shooting of Rebels boss Nick Martin, as well as allegedly trying to organise two other murders, has faced a Perth court.

David James Pye was charged on Monday with several offences, including the murder of Mr Martin and inciting a person to murder two other people.

Mr Pye, who is a member of the Comanchero bikies, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link from Casuarina prison.

A 35-year-old former soldier, who cannot be identified, was allegedly paid $300,000 to kill Mr Martin.

The bikie boss was with his family at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana in December last year when he was killed in a sniper shooting.

The shooter has pleaded guilty to murder and is due to face a sentencing hearing in the West Australian Supreme Court in December.

Police allege Mr Pye also offered the man money to separately murder two other people — a 35-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man living overseas who is a senior member of another bikie gang.

Mr Pye was not required to enter any pleas and was remanded in custody to face Stirling Gardens Magistrates court on December 22.

An application for a suppression order on his identity, aimed at protecting Mr Pye and his family, was rejected.
