Albany Boardriders compete strongly at annual Surf Boardroom Surf League at Scarborough Beach in Perth

A talented squad of Albany Boardriders finished fifth at the recent Surf Boardroom Surf League held at Perth’s iconic Scarborough Beach last weekend.

The Surf League brings regional and metropolitan-based clubs together annually to compete for the ultimate club supremacy.

Each club selects their top six surfers with four from the open-age category, one over-35 master, and one under-18 junior, with each surfer’s top score contributing to their team’s overall tally.

Surfers were met with pristine sunny conditions and better-than-expected surf creating a brilliant competitive atmosphere for the crowd.

Albany Boardriders narrowly finished outside the financial prizes in fifth, while Margaret River Boardriders claimed the top spot with 48.56 points to pocket $2000.

Surf Beach Boardriders (42.51 points), Yallingup Boardriders (39.04) and Trigg Point Boardriders (35.63) rounded out the top four.

Great Southern surfing sensation Isi Campbell, from Denmark, had a stellar competition taking home two major awards, while teammate Zen Shepherd was also awarded a trophy.

Campbell won the Creatures of the Leisure Cream of the Crop award for best manoeuvre and Creatures of Leisure Encouragement Award for best camaraderie.

Shepherd won the Rip Curl Longest Time Behind The Curl for riding the best tube throughout the competition.
