ADCA 2024-25: Superb first century powers Park juniors to big win, Narrikup upset Denmark in B-grade
Collingwood Park young gun Buddy Robinson blasted his maiden century in round 10 of the Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-17s competition on Sunday.
Robinson was part of Park’s team that thumped rivals Royals at Turf South to maintain their unbeaten season.
Park won the toss and batted first. Robinson made 50 before retiring not out, then later returned to the crease, batting alongside his younger brother Max.
With no wickets left, the pair put on 88 runs together as Max held up his end to allow Buddy the chance to bring up triple figures.
Buddy Robinson smacked 10 fours and four sixes in his wonderful ton, finishing 115 not out from 97 balls.
Max Robinson played his part with an unbeaten 15 as Park finished their 45 overs at 8-224.
Chaz Durack opened the innings and added 40 from 75 balls.
In a tough day for the Lions bowlers, Hayden Leo returned 2-11 from five overs.
Archer Coghlan was dismissed early in the Lions’ chase and Park kept the pressure on, taking regular wickets.
Evan Pretorius (16) and Lucas Smart (29) offered some resistance but their side was skittled for 67 in reply, handing Park a 157-run win.
In the other under-17s fixture, Manypeaks were big winners over Mt Barker at Turf East.
The Bulls batted first and finished all out for 95, led by Stan Ebert (18no) and Beau Loton (12).
Xavier Liddle was key with the ball, taking 4-8, and was well supported by teammate Regan Christensen (3-17).
In reply, both Eugene Bird and Oliver Douglas made half-centuries for Peaks as they cruised past the total.
Bird (50 retired not out), Douglas (53 retired not out) and Christensen (45) all played well as Peaks made 4-190 from 40 overs.
In the ADCA senior grades on Saturday, Narrikup upset top-two side Denmark at Turf East in round 11.
Narrikup chased down 169 to win with two overs to spare as Jeremy Watson made an unbeaten 60 to go with contributions from John Miell (24) and Jarrad Norton (20no).
The highlight, however, was Ashley Hornby, who snared a sensational seven wickets with the ball for Narrikup.
Hornby claimed figures of 7-55 from nine overs as Denmark were bowled out in the 38th over.
The Magpies’ Jackson Ross fell short of a century, making 93 from 97 balls.
Royals easily accounted for Mt Barker at Hard North, needing fewer than 20 overs to chase their target.
Damion Leo took three crucial wickets as the Bulls were bowled out for 118 before Tyler Crommelin belted 79 from 53 balls, including five sixes, as the Lions won by eight wickets.
Manypeaks recorded a seven-wicket win, thumping Collingwood Park at Proctor Oval.
Angus McSweeney (51no) led the way as Peaks reached the target of 83 in the 19th over.
In the C-grade competition, Albany Sharks were skittled for 13 to hand Denmark an emphatic win, with Tom Forman snaring five wickets.
Steve Van Nierop made 87 in Collingwood Park’s 92-run win over Railways, and big scores from Peter Owen (66no) and Chris Liddle (75) guided Manypeaks to victory against Narrikup in round 11.
