Chevron Australia is set to become the next big tenant at Perth’s Elizabeth Quay.

The energy giant has today lodged a development application for a 30-storey office tower on the corner of The Esplanade and Barrack Street.

The multi-use, 52,000sqm tower will feature exhibition spaces, conference facilities, childcare and gymnasium space with retail tenancies and café and restaurants on the ground floor to take advantage of foot traffic around the quay.

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti welcomed the application and said development of Lots 7 and 8 would help activate the wider quay precinct.

“The construction of more office buildings is a sign that business confidence is improving in WA,” Ms Saffioti said.

“The developer, Brookfield, has indicated its commitment to maximise local industry involvement. As a result, this development will create hundreds of on-site jobs and a major flow-on of work through local contracts.”

The application is open for public comment until October 24, 2018.
